Baseball's LG Lee Sang-young crashes while driving drunk... LG apologizes to fans

The LG Twins, a baseball team in the midst of a fierce standings battle, have issued an apology for a drunk driving accident involving Lee Sang-young.

The LG Twins announced today (Nov. 14) that they have reported left-handed pitcher Lee Sang-young (23) and his passenger, sidearm pitcher Lee Faith (24), to the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) Clean Baseball Center for a drunk driving accident.

In its apology, LG said, “We sincerely apologize to our fans and are once again deeply aware of our responsibility in managing the team.” It added, “The club has humbly accepted the disciplinary outcome of the KBO's punishment committee and will do our best to prevent future recurrences.”

The KBO has sanctions for drunk driving offenses, including a 70-game suspension for a first offense, a one-year suspension for a second offense, a five-year suspension for a third offense, and a permanent suspension for a fourth offense.

Lee was reportedly driving while intoxicated to the point of license revocation on a street in Jungwon-gu, 토토사이트 Seongnam-si, on the morning of today (April 14), causing an accident with a vehicle in front of him.

According to KBO rules, Lee will be suspended for one year.

Lee Bi-deum, who was a passenger in Lee Sang-young's car, will go through the penalty committee to determine the level of discipline. There are no specific sanctions for passengers in the car of a drunk driver.

Last year, when Lee was discharged from the team, he went 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in six games, and this season, he went 1-0 with a 3.31 ERA in eight games.

This isn't the first time LG has been in the news for a member's drunk driving.

On July 29, former LG coach Choi Seung-joon was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing to take a breathalyzer test when asked by police, prompting LG to terminate his contract and issue an apology.
