Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (39, Alnasr) has become the first person in the world to reach the milestone of 1 billion followers on his social media accounts.
Ronaldo announced on Wednesday (local time) that his Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and other social media accounts have reached 1 billion subscribers.
This includes Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, and Chinese social media Weibo and Sina Weibo.
The BBC and others reported that Ronaldo has become the first person to reach the “one billion follower” mark.
Ronaldo, who has scored more than 900 goals for club and country, is also one of the biggest stars in world soccer.
He has more than 639 million followers on Instagram alone, 170 million on Facebook, and more than 113 million on Twitter.
He recently launched his YouTube channel, which has been a catalyst for him to reach the “1 billion followers” milestone.
Ronaldo's YouTube channel, “UR Cristiano,” which was launched on March 21, surpassed 10 million subscribers in less than 12 hours, and now has more than 61 million.
His popularity on social media is unrivaled in the soccer world and among celebrities in general.
Actress and singer Selena Gomez is next with 690 million, followed by Ronaldo's longtime rival on the field, Lionel Messi (Inter Miami), with 623 million. 파워볼실시간
Pop stars Justin Bieber (670 million) and Taylor Swift (574 million) are also far behind Ronaldo.
“Unlike his 'rivals', Ronaldo is not yet on TikTok or Thread, so he has room to grow his social media presence,” says the BBC.
“One billion followers, it's not just a number,” Ronaldo has said in posts on Instagram and elsewhere. “From the streets of Madeira (my hometown) to the world's biggest stages, I've always played for my family and for you, and now a billion of us are with you,” he wrote on Instagram and elsewhere.
“You have been with me every step of the way, through every bend in the road. This journey belongs to all of us, and together we have shown that there is no limit to what we can achieve,” he emphasized.
“Thank you for believing in me, for supporting me, for being part of my life,” Ronaldo said, adding, ”The best is yet to come. We will continue to work, win, and make history together,” he added.
